2013 through the lens of my camera. I won't promise these will ever be perfect, portfolio-worthy pictures. There might be days where all I can muster is a camera phone shot or maybe my point and shoot. But I really hope taking a picture every single day will force me to learn and grow in photography and challenge me as well.

Water is fun to watch: Day 313/365
We took our family Christmas pictures in front of a museum and there was a pretty fountain in front of the building. Of course the kids were much more interested in the fountain than taking family pictures.
Watching sports is serious: Day 312/365
My husband and my son are both big sports watchers. What you can't see in the picture is there was one basketball game on the tv as well as one on my husband's iPad. They were in basketball heaven.
Serious snacking: Day 311/365
The little guy managed to sneak the box of Cheerios out of the pantry and dug in for a snack before breakfast. Then, he refused to eat them from a bowl because straight from the box is much more fun.
Simple fun: Day 310/365
I love that kids are entertained by simple things. Even just putting a blanket on the floor to crawl around in provided a good 10 minutes of fun in our house.
Fall is electric: Day 309/365
The cooler weather means the static electricity has taken over my daughter's hair. And it seems to be worse when she sits in a shopping cart. I couldn't help but laugh that her hair didn't seem to loose its craziness even after she sat down to eat lunch.
Fall colors: Day 308/365
I love the beautiful fall colors that we see every year. And this particular tree is absolutely gorgeous every year.
They can be still: Day 307/365
This was not a picture I intended to share, but I realized it was the only picture I took that day so it had to be shared. The kids were hanging out on the couch, actually both being still at the same time and I took a quick picture with no adjustments made to my phone. So, super poor quality, but it is what it is.

More pumpkin: Day 306
Continuing my pumpkin obsession, I baked pumpkin pound cake and my house smelled like pumpkin heaven.
Sad little trees: Day 305/365
After a night of rain and wind, we woke up to almost bare crepe myrtles in our back yard. They look so pitiful.
Covering up in his sleep: Day 303/365
I always cover my son up with a blanket before I leave his room, but after watching him on the video monitor I know he uncovers himself when I leave. So, I was surprised to see him all wrapped up in his blanket when I went in to wake him up. I guess he thought he was hiding in his sleep.
Playing with the pumpkins: Day 302
My son has been fascinated with the pumpkins this year and while we were outside playing, he figured out how to take the top off and put it back on. So, that happened around 50 times before he got tired of it.
Drilling pumpkins: Day 301/365
After a little too much Pinterest viewing, I asked my husband to use a drill to "carve" one of our pumpkins. He was more than happy to comply with my request.
Pretty brushes all in a row: Day 300/365
I was getting ready to clean my makeup brushes and thought they looked pretty all lined up ready to be washed so I took a quick picture.
Biltmore: Day 299/365
My husband took me to the Biltmore Estate for my birthday. I was a good girl and follow the no camera rule in the house, but I took so many pictures outside. It was such a beautiful fall day in the mountains of North Carolina I just couldn't help myself.
Another day, another mess: Day 298/365
I can't help but laugh when my son feeds himself. He is such a messy little guy, but so happy with the mess I can't get mad.
Her "school picture": Day 296/365
My daughter tried to tell me this is how she wore her hair and headband for her school pictures that day.
Girl watching already: Day 295/365
I was doing a special project at my friend's dance studio and took the kids with me until my husband could pick them up. I found it amusing my son was fascinated with watching the girls dance at the young age of 21-months.
Going and watching: Day 294/365
I love how my son wants to be independent and move on his own, but always wants to make sure I am watching him go.
Playtime at the mall: Day 292/365
My husband and I decided to take the kids to the mall play area to burn some energy off. My son is just getting the hang of climbing and sliding on the equipment by himself and he was quite proud of it.

Pizza chef: Day 291/365
I told my daughter I was making homemade pizza for dinner and she quickly volunteered to help. So I let her help roll the dough and she thought it was awesome.
Its more fun to play in than eat: Day 290/365
My son decided it was much more fun to play with his applesauce than eat it.
A princess and her castle: Day 289/365
My daughter has taken a fascination with Legos lately and rebuilds her princess castle a million different ways.
Playing in the dirt, even at the park: Day 288/365
I took the kids to the neighborhood park and they decided that playing in the dirt was just as fun there, despite the nice playground set nearby.
Yay!: Day 286/365
I was trying to take a picture of my son in his crib because I finally took his crib bumper out and wanted to show him being a big boy. He decided saying "Yay" and doing the touchdown sign were much more fun than posing for his mama.
Computer time: Day 285/365
The kids start multitasking early these days. Working on the computer while chewing on a block means he can play and feel better at the same time.
Is my tongue blue: Day 284/365
We went out for frozen yogurt and my daughter asked me if her cotton candy flavored yogurt had turned her tongue blue. When I answered no she had to ask again by sticking her tongue out at me to make sure.
Boo: Day 283/365
My son is loves playing the "boo" game where he thinks he is scaring me by peeking around things and saying "boo." I can't help but laugh.
The kid loves the goats: Day 282/365
My son's favorite time of the week is while his sister is at dance because we visit the goats and watch the airplanes fly over. I'm glad he likes free entertainment.
Book time: Day 281/365
The kids decided they needed a little book time before breakfast which I thought was sweet.
Finally eating something: Day 280/365
My son has been on an all-out food strike lately. The only thing he wants is all carbs, all the time. Mainly of the bread and fruit variety. I finally got him to eat a hot dog and was thrilled that he agreed and shoveled it down.

Cleaning the floors: Day 279/365
We were at my parents' new house moving furniture in and my kids decided to entertain themselves by playing with the mop and broom.
Multitasking: Day 278/365
My son couldn't decide which toy he wanted to play with so he decided to play with them at them at the same time. I know there are many men out there who wish they could be so lucky to play golf while they cut grass.
Mommy-son time: Day 277/365
My son loves to see himself on camera so I was taking selfies of us to pass the time before we picked my daughter up from school. I didn't intend to use any of those pictures but they turned out to be the only ones I took that day so it had to do for my project. And I guess I can't blame the lopsidedness of this one on anyone but myself this time.
Mommy-daughter time: Day 276/365
My daughter complained that I "never take any pictures of me and her together" so we did a quick selfie portrait of us together. She held the phone which explains the lopsidedness of it but she was so proud that she did it herself I couldn't ask for a re-take.
Eating like a big boy: Day 275/365
My son decided he was over the idea of me feeding him oatmeal and wanted to feed himself instead. He scooped up his bowl of oatmeal with a spoon and proceeded to eat like a champ.
Age doesn't matter when its about toys: Day 274/365
Yes, that is my 4-year old daughter crammed in my toddler's car and she enjoyed every minute of it despite not being in the targeted audience for this toy.
Morning iPad time: Day 273/365
I usually don't let my son play with my iPad mini because there is no case on it and he's already assisted in breaking the screen on one iPad in the past. But, I needed something to keep him entertained one morning while houseguests were sleeping so I let him have some iPad time on my bed and he was thrilled.
Play date: Day 272/365
One of my husband's friends brought his little guy over to play with my son one afternoon. Despite the look of this picture, they didn't really play "together" yet but both seemed to enjoy pulling the doors and other parts off the bus.

Close and open: Day 271/365
My son is obsessed with opening and closing things like doors, drawers, and now things with lids. So it was no surprise when I found him trying to close the sidewalk chalk box.
And so it begins: Day 270/365
The trying to wear no clothes phase has begun for our toddler. I walked in to his room one morning and found him trying to take his shirt off while he waited for me to get up.

Popping bubbles: Day 269/365
My daughter got tired of blowing bubbles and wanted me to take over the blowing so she could run around and pop them.
So cute when they sleep: Day 268/365
Its not often I can go in my son's room while he's asleep without waking him up. He was particularly tired this day and didn't even flinch when I opened his door, so I grabbed my phone to take a picture of him all curled up asleep.
Princess in a spaceship: Day 267/365
My daughter decided the cardboard box from Amazon made a great spaceship, but it needed some color and decoration to be even better. So, she got dressed in her princess gear and sang songs while she decorated her spaceship.
Laundry helper: Day 266/365
Our washing machine was out of commission for about 1.5 weeks so I had to haul our clothes to the laundromat for cleaning. I had to take my son with me during one trip and he loved helping me load and unload the clothes from the machines.
Monkey see, monkey do: Day 265/365
My son watches everything his big sister does, so after she paraded around the house in my shoes earlier in the week, he decided he needed to wear daddy's shoes so he could be just like his him.
Boys do wear crowns: Day 264/365
My poor son has no clue that wearing a crown is typically more of a girly thing since my daughter insists on dressing him in it so often. It still made me laugh to see him pick the crown up from the floor and place it on his head without any coaching from my daughter.
